A selection of lessons from the Main Course and from Discover is free and remains free. It is enough to judge whether the teaching suits you before paying for anything. It is not the whole course.

The complete Main Course across all 8 levels, together with all of Discover, requires PLUS. Role-play speaking practice with CHAO and help inside the lesson require CHAO.

There are three PLUS plans: 1 month, 12 months and Lifetime. Pricing varies by plan length, by region, and by any promotion running at the time. Current prices are on the PLUS purchase page in the iOS or Android app, or on our website. Offers for different regions and platforms may vary.

The Main Course covers HSK1 to HSK5 across 8 levels of 24 units each: complete beginner through to intermediate. By the end of it you can hold a conversation across a wide range of everyday topics.

The HSK Vocabulary course in Discover continues to HSK 7 to 9. How far any learner gets depends on the time they give it and the Chinese they started with, so the level test in the app is the quickest way to see where you would begin.

FREE opens a selection of lessons from the Main Course and Discover, enough to try the app before paying. PLUS opens the complete Main Course across all 8 levels and everything in Discover: vocabulary and grammar, dialogue and story lessons, exercises, review, and speaking practice with pronunciation scores. CHAO contains everything in PLUS and adds role-play speaking practice with CHAO, the AI Chinese tutor, together with help inside the lesson. Progress carries across all three plans, so changing plan never costs you your place in the course.

Speaking begins in the first lesson, not after the first few levels. Each lesson asks you to say the line out loud and record it, and returns a pronunciation score immediately. The score is color-coded down to the individual characters you got wrong, so the correction is specific: you can see which sound to fix rather than being told to try again. Every unit closes with speaking practice, and because each unit is built around one real situation, the sentence you have just spoken is one you could use the same day.

The CHAO plan adds role-play of the situation itself with CHAO, the AI Chinese tutor: ordering bubble tea, checking into a hotel, sitting in a work meeting. You speak without a script, CHAO replies in turn, and it then explains what sounded unnatural and why.

SuperChinese is built for learners starting from zero. The optional pinyin course sits before Level 1 and covers initials, finals and tones, so the sound system comes first and the first full sentence comes after it. Level 1 then opens the Main Course, with lessons ordered from easier to harder and each one running about 10 minutes. Learners who already know some Chinese can take the Chinese level test in the app and begin at the level that matches them rather than at the beginning.

Lessons and study materials can be downloaded inside the app and used without an internet connection.

To download lessons, open the SuperChinese app, tap “Profile”, then the settings button in the top right corner, then “Offline download”.

You can pay through the App Store or Google Play with a credit card, debit card or PayPal. The options available depend on your location, and some are not offered in every region.

Uninstalling the app does not cancel your subscription.

Subscriptions are managed by the store you bought from, so you cancel in your Apple or Google account rather than in SuperChinese.

On iPhone:

1. Open Settings and tap your name at the top of the screen.
2. Tap “Subscriptions”.
3. Select SuperChinese, then tap “Cancel Subscription”.

On Android:

1. Open the Google Play Store.
2. Check that you are signed in to the correct Google Account.
3. Tap your profile picture, then “Payments and subscriptions”.
4. Tap “Subscriptions”, then select SuperChinese.
5. Tap “Cancel subscription” and follow the instructions.
6. If you bought through WeChat Pay, Alipay or PayPal on our website, contact us and we will cancel it for you.

The Main Course covers HSK1 to HSK5, so it takes you through the vocabulary and grammar those levels are built on, and the HSK Vocabulary course in Discover continues to HSK 7 to 9.

It is not an exam drill. The Main Course teaches the language rather than the paper. For exam preparation specifically, SuperTest is our separate app built for the HSK proficiency exams.

A monthly or annual subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it before the billing date. PLUS Lifetime is a one-off purchase and does not renew.

First, check that you are logged in to the SuperChinese account you bought with, and that your subscription is active. If it still does not show, log out and back in, or refresh the app.

If membership still does not appear after that, please send the receipt from Apple, Google, WeChat or PayPal to us directly at hello@superchinese.com. We’ll be happy to investigate and help resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

You keep access for the time you have already paid for. For example, if you buy a one-year subscription on January 1 and cancel it on July 1, you still have access until December 31.

Pinyin is essential, and SuperChinese teaches it. The optional pinyin course sits before Level 1 and covers initials, finals and tones from the beginning, so you build the sound system before meeting your first full sentence. Learners who already read pinyin can skip the course and open Level 1 directly. Pinyin then stays alongside the characters throughout the Main Course, which means pronunciation is never in doubt while your reading is still developing.

To delete your account:

1. Open the app and tap “Profile”.
2. Tap “Settings” in the top right corner.
3. Tap “Account”.
4. Tap “Delete account”.
5. Follow the instructions in the app. You can also request deletion from the account deletion page on this site.

Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone. All of your study data, purchases and learning records go with it. If you have an active subscription, cancel it in the App Store or Google Play first, because deleting the account does not stop the billing.

SuperChinese supports 15 in-app languages, with more languages and regions in progress. Changing the language does not affect your progress.

To change your language:

1. Open the app and tap “Profile”.
2. Tap “Settings” in the top right corner.
3. Open the app, tap “Profile”, then “Settings”, then “Language”.
4. Select your preferred language from the list.

Native Chinese teachers write the curriculum, the dialogues and the example sentences. The 8 levels, and the 24 units within each of them, are sequenced deliberately, and from Level 5 the units open into modern Chinese life and traditional culture. Technology supplies the feedback rather than the teaching: it is what scores your pronunciation the moment you stop speaking, and what allows CHAO to explain why a sentence sounds unnatural.

Each unit is built around one practical scenario, and the lessons inside it follow a consistent shape.

1. The vocabulary and grammar the scenario needs come first.
2. A dialogue, story or topic lesson follows, where you shadow the speaker and then say the lines yourself.
3. The unit closes with review, comprehension checks and speaking practice on what it has just covered. A lesson runs about 10 minutes, and there are over 1000 of them across the 8 levels.

Universities and Mandarin training schools already teach with SuperChinese.

Teachers work from a free admin platform that shows class progress, which students are falling behind, and each student’s actual level.

Speaking practice can run in every class without adding to the marking, because pronunciation is scored as students speak.
